I was so excited to read on Jasmine Star’s blog that she was going to be in Lansing, MI on September 15th. When Chris said that I could drop everything to go see her, I was on cloud nine. It was like being a 13 year old again and going to see Plus One for my VERY first concert.
I left the seminar, got in the car with Chris and Bryce (who loving was playing on the MSU tennis court while I was being filled with inspiration), and talked about the seminar until I was blue in the face. I was so inspired by what she said, I got to work right away on re-vamping my image. While I was figuring out what that was, I realized something that I should’ve known all along. I am such a classic kind of girl. I am obsessed with black and white, the 50s, Audrey Hepburn, and all of the old movies.
I am working on re-vamping a lot about who I am and being true to me and my style. Then, it dawned on me, everything about my business decisions has been based off of my love for the classics. The font we went with, the way I shoot, my designs, my albums, everything. Then I had this idea of putting out there that I want to do a workshop. I don’t want to attend one (wait, yes I do), I want to be the one giving it.
I like to think I’m not the only photographer that thinks they don’t have a following of other photographers so I put the idea of the workshop on Twitter and Facebook. I was amazed that within the first day or two of posting it, I had 5 responses/interested attendees. I decided I couldn’t let them down, it was time to get started. So, here it is.
who? Katie Whitcomb and 1 attendee
what? 1-day workshop to study classic portraiture
where? Downtown South Bend and any other place that our hearts lead us

How can I register? Simply send me an email to katie@glphotographyllc.com with the following information: your name, your company name, your web address, and the way you’d like to pay (check via mail or paypal).
I am so excited to meet you.

I’ve had the delightful pleasure of working with Jamie and the Michael Angelo’s crew at two weddings this year. They never cease to amaze me with their talent and devotion to their brides. I asked Jamie for a little advice when choosing the perfect flowers for your wedding, her advice is “One thing that we tell all of our brides when choosing their floral is to choose what makes you happy. We ask what it is that makes them smile. Going with your personal sense of style can be more important than what’s ‘in-style’.” I just love that. You can certainly see Erin and Jules’ personality in these flowers. Simply amazing.

Jeff and Amy are just so cute. I love them. We enjoyed their e-session last year and from the moment we met them we just knew their wedding would be amazing. They proved me wrong, it was FANTABULOUSLY GORGEOUS!!!!
Just take a look at her dress. I couldn’t be more in love with this dress.

Don’t forget about the glamourous Amy (more to come).

These beautifully flowers were done by Designs by Vogt

The Stanner’s so graciously lent their lake house as the ceremony and reception venue. This house is so luxurious. I would LOVE to shoot here again.

I love how her accessories go oh so well together. Her hair piece was by Portobello Jewelry. Earrings and necklace set from JCPenny’s.

Once again, my glamourous bride.

Here’s Jeff and the guys hanging out. It was a ND vs. MSU game day and I know how hard it was for them to pry their eyes off the TV to take some awesome pictures. BUT, I have to say that I just love everything about these guys. They were a great bunch.

The girls all looked fabulous.

And they knew it. ![]()

The handsome groom.

The guys watching the game.

Amy, I love you! I just have to say that. ![]()

See, I told you that peeling them off the game was worth it. ![]()

Gotta love the elegant simplicity of this cake from Cake Sensations by Laura

Amy was peaking out the window and saw Jeff.

I love her tears after seeing him. She has such great friends.

Amy and her dad, neither had a dry eye.

Jeff’s first look at his blushing bride.

They had such a fabulous ceremony.

I love this shot of me and Amy. She’s just so beautiful and happy.

This amazing team (A Grand Occasion) worked so hard to pull off an amazing event for Amy. I know that Amy would agree with me when I say that Katy & Jake are AMAZING!!

Ryan and his wife were awesome, they truly are The Simple DJs

I met this amazing couple (John and Jen Moon of Northernlight Filmworks) the day I decided to quit my job at Burkhart. I found it fascinating that they used the same equipment that a photographer does for their cinemotography. They totally rocked out our little shoot out in Indy last month. Check out the amazing video the put together. I’m in awe!!!
Ps. Check out 2:06 minute. They got a great shot of me laughing (candid). Which is rare because I have camera radar.
